Manhood

What makes a man successful if not money and status?

Look at the life of Christ. When you boil it down, Christ says in the gospel, I came to serve, not to be served. That is the essence of being a man. The essence of leadership is not accolades, prestige, or winning people's admiration. It is being a servant leader in the image of Christ, using all the good gifts God has given you to help, strengthen, and build up the people around you, to further his church and bring salvation to the nations.

That is real success, not financial but deeply interpersonal, because ones and zeros in a bank account don't mean anything when your heart is empty. There are millionaires and billionaires who have been divorced multiple times, estranged from their kids, in turmoil. They have a big house and nice stuff, but nobody to share it with. The people pushing the self-referential life of creating wealth, sleeping with women, and building a little hedonism on earth will grow old, grow lonely, and be detached from people, and the void within them will only grow more profound with time.
