Should I be dating in my twenties or looking for a wife?
I certainly did not have a career path. I was working as a plumber's assistant. But I knew that if I was going to stay out of trouble, I needed to find a wife and become responsible in that way. Numerous of my friends wasted so many years of their 20s flittering around from relationship to relationship, being tempted by women outside the church, falling away from their faith and coming back, all because of the simple fact that they did not prioritize finding and establishing a relationship that led to marriage.
This is why I tell people: do not date. Find somebody who is a worthy candidate for marriage, who is living the spiritual life, who you go to church with, and then build on that and create a marriage. I cannot emphasize it enough. The priority is first our relationship with God, secondarily to find a wife. We need to find someone to dedicate our life to. There is no Amazon Prime for women where we get to pick out all the different facets of the perfect person.
You have to find somebody who has core qualities that you love and enjoy being with, who has the same vision for her life. The reality is you have to find a spouse. That needs to be foremost.
