Is being a stay-at-home mom a waste of a woman's potential?

We all end up serving somebody. The idea that you will not find real fulfillment and meaning in raising children, that meaning is only found in a career, completely detaches a woman from her natural calling. Men cannot produce children on their own. Women are fundamental to having a family, they have infinite value because they are created in the image of God, and it is an incredible and beautiful thing for a woman to embrace motherhood and sacrificial servanthood.

You can find almost no one more sacrificial than a woman. True motherhood is in so many ways in the image of God. What does Christ, the incarnate God, say when he comes on earth? I came to serve, not to be served. Being a servant is not a lowly task. We've defined it that way because people want power and comfort. But real servanthood, real generosity with our time and our very self, is so close to God, because that is exactly how God is.

Even Christ crucified serves the people who crucify him: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. Women partake in this mystery in a completely unique and beautiful way, and I think this is why women naturally tend to have a much softer heart toward God.
