Do Orthodox Christians have a duty to vote?

There's something important to remember when it comes to politics: the words of St Silouan. We don't choose the lesser evil, because if there's a lesser evil, it's still evil. People often bring up the fact that we have a duty to vote. This is not accurate. We have things enshrined in the Constitution that we can choose to participate in or not to participate in.

I often relate this to the Second Amendment. If somebody says, "I'm not comfortable with guns. I don't want to have guns," the Church is not telling them they have to own guns and practice the Second Amendment. It's not a requirement to be an Orthodox Christian to vote, period. So if we're put into a situation, and politics is often binary decision making, either A or B with no alternative, and neither A nor B is a good decision, we as Orthodox Christians can simply choose not to vote. We don't have to vote. We're not required to vote.
