What should a husband do when his wife isn't doing her part?

As a husband and a leader, you do not do things that are distressing and difficult for your wife to understand or accept. You do not overly burden your wife. St John Chrysostom has one of my favorite quotes: husbands, be indulgently patient with your wives, cultivate them, bring them along, nourish them. And when people would write to St John and say, well, my wife is not doing her role properly, he says, what does that matter? A husband has to exemplify all the attributes of a good husband regardless of whether his wife is responding properly.
