Confession

How do I prepare for a life confession?

Preparing for a life confession is very simple. People way overcomplicate it. We review the seven deadly sins and anything related to them, and then we look over the course of our life at the instances where we committed those sins in a very profound way. Somebody may say, I've been angry in my life, but what really troubles me is that when I was seven I beat somebody up out of my anger.

We all suffer from these passions in a general way. If we told the priest every time we got angry driving, we'd be there for hours. But we need to touch on the times where those sins were very manifest. Somebody may say, I suffer from greed, but they also need to say, there was a time I stole 20 dollars from my mom, I'm still ashamed of it, and I need to get that off my conscience.

The priest doesn't need every detail of every instance, but he should hear the things that are bothering and plaguing our conscience.
