Why does God feel far away after you sin?
Sometimes people commit sins or do things that darken their nous, the eye of their soul, and they feel like they cannot see God. They cannot find him. Sometimes they feel abandoned by him. Many times this is just the byproduct of doing something that hurts their conscience. When that happens, the Holy Spirit recoils a bit, so that they sense they have done something wrong and need to amend or correct their behavior.
That is a normal phenomenon, but it is easily corrected with repentance: turning away from the sin, asking God's forgiveness, and carrying on. Slowly that light starts to come back and drift into the soul.
