I'm terrified of doing a life confession. What will the priest think of me?

The demons provoke this fear and anxiety by giving people thoughts about what the priest is going to think of them. A few things to keep in mind. Number one, every priest has done multiple life confessions himself, both when he came into the church and before his ordination, and he is constantly confessing his own sins. Number two, the priest has already heard loads of life confessions, and nothing anybody confesses is really unique.

It's all the same stuff. Number three, honestly, priests don't spend a lot of time judging people. When you hear people's sins all the time, you have a very clear understanding of who people are and the common sins they fall into, and it's not an emotional event for the priest. The priest is not looking down at you. In fact, he is rejoicing that you've come to confession.

He is thrilled that you want to change your way of life, and he is listening enthusiastically so that you may find healing in the grace of God.
