Why am I really addicted to porn?

For most people, lust addiction is a desire, a craving, almost a compulsion to look at things on the internet, to engage in mental fantasy about sexuality, and then to follow through with what we call in the church self-abuse, colloquially masturbation. Most people are exposed to pornography at a relatively young age, and it works on a person not so much through sexual desire.

For most men it becomes a means of coping with the stresses, anxieties, and uncertainties of life. Lust really isn't about sexuality. In my experience, lust is about emotional regulation: relying on the dopamine hit to take away negative feelings and thoughts. It's a means of escapism, and it's a fantasy. In real life a person may be a complete loser with no chance with women, but he turns on his computer and suddenly the most gorgeous woman wants to get naked for him, and suddenly he's not a loser.

But after he follows through with masturbation, crashing down on his head come intense feelings of actually being a loser, because it is loser behavior. Your mind realizes afterwards that these women want nothing to do with you. It's almost a humiliation ritual: a man engages in this behavior and really ends up humiliating himself.
