Is it judging someone to acknowledge they have a real problem, like drinking too much?

If you know somebody who drinks too much, it is objectively true that they drink too much. That's an objective fact, and that isn't judging them. But if you say, they're never going to change, they're such a loser, they're such a this, they're such a that: that's where the holy fathers say judgment begins. What we should see is somebody suffering from their sins, and we should be praying for them and saying: Lord, have mercy.

Look at all the sins that I suffer from as well. They're not able to overcome this passion, and I have my own passions that I can't overcome. Maybe they can't overcome the alcohol, but maybe they're very gentle or very humble. Maybe even the fact that they drink too much has made them more humble. Then you meet somebody else who doesn't drink at all but is completely prideful about the fact that they don't drink at all. So who's in the worse spiritual state? The person who is prideful is always in the worst spiritual state.
