How can you have hope that people can really change?

I always have hope. I'm super hopeful. I'm hope maxing all the time, because I believe in the power of Christ. Christ can change anyone. And I don't mean that in terms of some hypothetical. I look at my own life and say, look at what Christ did with my life. How many people who knew me would have thought, this guy is absolutely hopeless? If you polled a hundred people who knew me in high school and asked who was the least likely person to become a priest, I probably would have been dead last. So God can work in my life, and he can work in anybody's life. So of course I have hope. I never have despair.
