Can I have all the right theology and still not be saved?

Look at the Gospel. Christ preaches to harlots, thieves, fishermen, and the religious class. The great irony is that it is the religious class, the people who think they have it all together, all the right answers, all the right theology, who find him repugnant and desire to kill him. This reveals that all of our salvation is an issue of the heart: either it is transformed into loving communion with God, or we practice our religion because we have the right answers.

Somebody can have the right theological answers and never really spend time in prayer except to ask God for trinkets. I see this when people come to the church and do their life confession. They say, Father, I have a lot of unforgiveness, sometimes toward their own spouse, their parents, someone who wronged them. They think they are Christian, but in the interior of their heart they are not like Christ at all. The right theology has not permeated into the depths of who they are as a person.
