The Passions

Will I ever stop struggling with lust completely?

I never want to use the word overcome, because the reality is you're going to be battling it for the rest of your life. The battle becomes different, though. At the beginning, when somebody is in the throes of getting free of that initial grab and the bond it has on them, it can be very, very difficult. But as time goes on, through practice, discipline, and constant warfare, you realize this is just a part of life.

It's low hanging fruit, an easy place for the devil to attack you, and the devil is going to keep attacking you until the day you die. Women are still going to be beautiful, you're still going to be attracted to them, people are still going to dress immodestly and catch your eye. The question is how much time, attention, and thought you give to those things, and that becomes much more controllable when you're not feeding into it.

It's like a sugar craving: if you eat sugar all the time, you crave sugar. But when you work sugar out of your diet, you see a cookie, you think the cookie looks delicious, and you have the self-control to say, I'm not going to eat it.
