Will God really take me back after I've made a mess of my life?

We are supposed to be like the prodigal son, who runs back to the father and says: Father, I can't deal with all the circumstances and all the difficulties I've gotten myself into. I need you to help me and I need you to heal me. And the great, crazy mystery of this universe is that this is what God thrives at. He says: I love it. I want to help you. I was just waiting for you to stop being so prideful, wandering around out in the world, trying to take care of yourself.

Now that you've come home, I can kill the fatted calf, I can put the gold ring on you, I can heal you, I can bring real peace to your soul in the midst of all the circumstances of life that are always going to be difficult. But you have to get out of that victim mindset.
