Why did my life get harder after becoming a Christian?

A lot of you think that when you become a Christian your life will become easy and peaceful, and that is simply not the case. When you really try to join the Orthodox Church, all hell is going to break loose on you, because the devil is actively fighting to prevent you from being saved. But look at the life of Christ. The devil tempts Christ in the wilderness not because he realizes Christ is God, but because he thinks he is a serious new prophet.

He doesn't realize God would be audacious enough and humble enough to become a man. The whole crucifixion is the devil's design to destroy this figure, when in actuality it is God himself. And since Christ is the author of life and goes down into death, he destroys death, because death cannot contain life. So even in the life of Christ, the devil was doing the will of God while trying to destroy him.

In our life it is the same: the devil thinks he is going to win, but the more he wars against us, the more we turn to God.
