Fatherhood

I feel like a failure as a parent. How do I stop beating myself up?

So many women struggle with this: I am a failure as a parent, I should be doing better, I am not doing enough. All this garbage. In fifteen or twenty years the kids are going to be out of the house, and you are going to realize you wasted twenty years of your life thinking about what you were not doing instead of just enjoying what you had. You will look back and say: I was a very imperfect person.

I wish I enjoyed it more. I wish I was not so critical of myself. I wish I did not worry about so much nonsense that never happened. I wish I was more present for my children. We waste so much of our life with this internal dialogue that has nothing to do with anything. It is not even reality. It is just thoughts.
