Why did you leave the Protestant church for Orthodoxy?

First, understand: we're not attacking Protestants, who are precious in the sight of God and often well-intentioned. We're attacking the theological system of Protestantism, showing that it is not historical, doesn't align with the early church or the apostles, and is an innovation that came out of Catholicism. If you really are a follower of Christ, you want to be in Christ's church with the fullness of the faith and the power of the sacraments.

When Christ said, be baptized for the remission of sins, he didn't say it's just an outward sign of an inward belief. When people heard him say to eat his body and drink his blood and left because it was too strange, he didn't chase them saying, I only meant it in remembrance. He doubled down and asked the apostles, are you going to leave also? For me, the last time I was ever in a Protestant church, I was already inquiring into Orthodoxy.

The Orthodox priest had told me, we really believe this is Christ's body and blood, so much so that if a drop from the chalice gets on my 600 dollar vestments, I cut it out and burn it. Six months later, friends invited my wife and me to a Protestant church in California. They passed around communion trays and said, break into little groups and say something meaningful to each other.

I just said the words of Christ: this is my body which is broken for you for the remission of sins. And somebody scowled at me. I said, I can't LARP anymore. I can't pretend this is real. I don't even know if I believe everything the Orthodox Church does yet, but they believe it, and what they're doing is really sacred to them, and what we're doing is just playing around and pretending. I don't think I ever set foot in a Protestant church again.
