How does the devil use partial truths to deceive you?

This is one of my favorites: the truth cookie. The truth cookie is a chocolate chip cookie, and every chocolate chip represents a little bit of truth. But the cookie is made by the devil, and it has a little bit of arsenic in it. People look at the cookie, see all the shiny chocolate chips, say, that looks delicious, eat it, and get sick. The devil doesn't tell big lies.

People think the father of lies is going to tell you all these lies; he doesn't do that. The devil will tell you nine truths and slip in the tenth one, and it's a lie. You see this a lot with traumatizing things in people's lives: this person disappointed you; they always disappoint you; everybody else has disappointed you also. And then you come to the conclusion: no one will ever be faithful to me.

That's the lie. The devil gets you to accept the propositions, but he feeds you a false conclusion. Then the person goes through life with that false conclusion in the back of their mind, like a bad line of code. Whenever they meet somebody, the code runs: don't trust them, they're going to let you down, they'll take advantage of you, they'll abandon you. This is the devil programming people, having them accept true propositions with false conclusions, and it destroys and ruins their life.
