Do I need to be rebaptized when I become Orthodox?

Baptism has historically been defined as the sacrament done by the hands of an Orthodox priest through triple immersion in the Orthodox Church. Have there historically been times when people were received by chrismation instead? Yes, that is true. But the practice of my jurisdiction, ROCOR, for some 50 years has been to receive everyone by baptism. Why? Pastorally speaking, I have seen many, many people who were chrismated and later regretted not being baptized.

When they had a deeper and fuller understanding of the faith, they wished they had received holy baptism. That is also what the monks on Mount Athos teach and what modern-day saints have said. Especially in our modern day, when many people have lived a hedonistic and immoral life, receiving holy baptism is a profound experience. I feel strongly that everyone should be baptized. It is the thing I have seen people not regret.
